We built most of our friendship around food, travel, and chasing new flavors.
In the kitchen, we had a pretty clear split: Naz cooked. Thomas baked.
Among friends, Thomas’s carrot cake became the thing everyone kept asking for. He shared the recipe, but no one really wanted to shop for all the ingredients, measure everything, and recreate it from scratch.
Eventually, Thomas got a little tired of baking for everyone, so he started asking himself:
"How can we make this easy enough for people to bake themselves?"
The answer was simple: a baking mix.
The problem? Baking mixes have a bad reputation. Convenient, yes. But rarely exciting, and rarely something you’re proud to put on the table.
But, what if a baking mix could actually taste good?
Not “good for a mix.” Just genuinely good.
That became Tortmann: baking mixes with modern flavors, simple steps, and reliable results.
The kind of cakes and cookies you actually want to bring to a dinner, bake with your family, or keep in the pantry for when you want something good without making it complicated.

Yes! They might look fancy, but we create our mixes so that anyone can bake. We tested our products a lot to ensure that they will always yield perfect results. You also get step-by-step instructions with photos inside the package.
We used to produce by hand in our own commercial kitchen. And quickly realized that was not sustainable. So now, we are producing with a co-packer in Berlin.
We use all organic products to produce our mixes. We are currently working on getting our certification.
Currently our mixes use sugar and normal flour. Our Raspberry Lemon Loaf is the only mix that is gluten-free and also vegan. If you wish to see more options, please write to us with your suggestions.
